KS Bharat, the keeper-batter of Team India, has stated that despite his lack of experience at the international level, captain Rohit Sharma has entrusted him with making DRS calls. KS Bharat mentioned that Rohit has encouraged him to express his views honestly without being concerned about the outcome.

KS Bharat was given the opportunity to make his Test debut against Australia in Nagpur as regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was unavailable. He performed well as a wicketkeeper and was also selected for the second match in Delhi.

In Delhi, after Ravindra Jadeja claimed seven wickets and dismissed Australia for 113 in their second innings, India were given a target of 115 runs. Shreyas Iyer’s wicket fell at 88, and KS Bharat came in to bat at No. 6. Bharat remained not out, scoring 23 runs off 22 deliveries, while Cheteshwar Pujara returned with a score of 31 not out, marking his 100th Test as India won the match by six wickets.

KS Bharat Opens Up On His Conversation With Rohit Sharma

The young wicket-keeper while talking to the media during his press conference talked about how he was surprised and happy at the same time with the amount of trust the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma displayed in him. KS Bharat throughout the two games was seen in conversation whenever there was a talk surrounding DRS.

“Rohit bhai (Sharma) and myself had a word. He said, ‘you are the best judge, as you stay close to the batsman. So whatever you feel, just give your opinion. You, me, and the bowler – the three of us will discuss, and we will take a call’. He said, ‘don’t worry about whether it is going to go our way or their way. Just back your instinct – whatever you feel, just put it across’. So the message is clear.”

With two games left in the series, it is very likely that KS Bharat will retain his spot as the Indian wicketkeeper, the player has done a good job behind the stumps so far and could emerge as a solid contender for the spot down the line.
