Indian Cricket Team would be dejected with their performance on Day 1 of the 4th Test Match. The mighty Aussies scored 255-4 and the visitors frustrated the bowlers with their defence. Sunil Gavaskar took a dig at Indian bowlers who conceded 56 runs in the last 10 overs of the day’s play. Sunil Gavaskar also pointed out that it could be a decisive factor in the Test Match.

Usman Khawaja made a statement that he is done yet by smashing a fine century. Usman Khawaja became the 2nd centurion of BGT 2023 & the first batter from the Australian team to score a century. With Alex Carey & Mitchell Starc yet to come, the Aussies would be hoping to get the score beyond the 350 mark.

Sunil Gavaskar on Indian bowlers

Sunil Gavaskar was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked whether the management should have a conversation with the fast bowlers who were taken to the cleaners in the last 10 overs.

“It’s best to have the conversation after a little while, not immediately. Because they will be very disappointed with their effort in the last hour after having taken the second new ball, to concede the number of runs they did and to concede the number of boundaries that they did. It was almost as if the Australians broke free when the second new ball was taken,” said Sunil Gavaskar.

“The first couple of overs from your new ball bowlers, that’s not what you want to see when you have got a brand new ball in your hand. The effort could have been better. I know it was a hot day, it takes a lot out of the fast bowlers. But you have got a brand new ball, playing for India, I think the effort could have been a little bit better. Any conversation about the showing can be had tomorrow morning, let the bowlers themselves mull over what they did today,” he added.

Enthralling Day 2 on Cards

Skipper Steve Smith would be utterly disappointed with his own performance as the batter once again failed to make the most of the start. Steve Smith played an unorthodox innings as he scored 38 runs in 135 balls where he struck 3 fours. The visitors need to be quite watchful in the morning session as the 2nd new ball is only 9 overs old.

Skipper Rohit Sharma perhaps needs to apply spin from one end as Ravichandran Ashwin can fox the batters with his variations where he has the knack of picking wickets in quick succession. It won’t be wrong to say that Australia holds a slight edge as they haven’t taken unnecessary risks against the bowlers.
