Rohit Sharma said that they didn’t play well enough as they failed to step on the little turning moments of the game. He also pointed out his death bowling, saying that they gave too many runs in the end. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:
“We didn’t play well enough to win the game. There were little moments in the game that we didn’t win unfortunately. We assessed the pitch really well and it was a good pitch to bat on and that score was definitely chaseable and we lost our way in the second half of the innings. We gave too many runs at the back end and the last three overs went for a few. But the way we started with the bat we were in a good position to chase, but like I said we lost our way in the second half.”

LSG vs MI: “It was a brilliant knock from him,” Rohit Sharma Lauds Marcus Stoinis for his staggering knock
Marcus Stoinis was the main architect behind Lucknow Super Giants posting a good total on the board on a difficult pitch. He played an exceptional knock of unbeaten 89 runs in 47 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 189.46 and smashed 4 fours and 8 sixes in his innings. His swashbuckling innings took Lucknow Super Giants to a total of 177/3.
Rohit Sharma lauded Marcus Stoinis for his brilliant knock and said that he kept hitting straight. He also admitted that they now need to play good cricket in their last game. He explained:
“He (Stoinis) played really well, kept hitting straight which is what you need to do on a pitch like this. It was a brilliant knock from him. Not sure how the calculation (about the points and NRR) will work, but we need to come out and play some good cricket in our last game (against SRH).”
For Mumbai Indians to now qualify, they need to win their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and they would also want two of CSK, LSG, PBKS, and RCB to lose one match or stay below them on NRR with 16 points.
