The much anticipated ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) final is set to take place on 7th June at The Oval. The veteran speedster Mohammed Shami had a fruitful BGT 2023 when he took 9 scalps on turning tracks. Mohammed Shami had a terrific IPL 2023 season when he took 28 wickets in 17 matches.
Skipper Rohit Sharma would be tested against Aussies as the WTC final 2021-23 final would be a completely different ball game as compared to BGT 2023. The track at the Oval is expected to be a competitive one as the surface comes under the scrutiny of ICC.
The veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane’s resurgence has meant that there is no added responsibility on the likes of Virat Kohli & Cheteshwar Pujara. It would be interesting to see whether Ajinkya Rahane plays his natural attacking brand of cricket, the way he was playing in IPL 2023 for CSK.
It looks unlikely that the left arm speedster Jaydev Unadkat would get a game in the marquee clash as there are experienced campaigners present in the team in the form of Umesh Yadav & Shardul Thakur.
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Aussies know the skillset Mohammed Shami has got- Ricky Ponting
Ricky Ponting was having an interaction with ICC and he stated that Mohammed Shami has to improve his game and take it to another level if India want to win the game. Ricky Ponting pointed out that the Aussies would come well-prepared against him.
“I think Mohammed Shami has to step up or try and take his game to another level if India are going to win this game,” said Ricky Ponting.
When you talk to the Australian batters as well, they understand how good he is whether it’s new ball or odd ball, whether it’s in Australia or India. They know the skillset he’s got and how dangerous he can be. It’s going to have to be him,” he added.
